Terms of Service

These Terms apply to Localyn, operated by Localyn LLC. These Terms do not guarantee legal compliance or constitute attorney approval.

Localyn accounts are available in the states Localyn currently supports rather than nationwide. Additional expectations for member conduct appear in the Community Standards, which you accept when creating an account.

By creating a Localyn account or otherwise using Localyn in a way that requires acceptance, you agree to these Terms of Service and the policies incorporated by reference, including the Privacy Policy, Community Standards, Prohibited Items Policy, Event Guidelines, Review Policy, and Copyright Policy.

If you do not agree, do not use Localyn. Optional future features (for example, paid promotions or business tools) may have additional terms presented when those features exist. Paid boosts, business accounts, paid identity verification, and similar monetization are not currently offered.

Localyn accounts are limited to individuals who are at least 18 years old, in the states where Localyn is available. You must have legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

You must provide accurate account information and may not create an account for prohibited, impersonating, or fraudulent purposes. Where Localyn issues a personal invitation, that invitation may not be transferred.

Localyn may restrict, suspend, or remove accounts that do not meet eligibility rules or that create safety or fraud risk. An age attestation at signup is not identity verification or government age verification.

Localyn is an online platform operated by Localyn LLC that connects community members. Members can discover local listings and community events, communicate about those posts, and — when those tools launch — discover local businesses.

Localyn does not buy, sell, organize, supervise, or fulfill member-to-member activity on members’ behalf. Members remain responsible for their own decisions, including whether to message, meet, buy, sell, attend, organize, or otherwise interact.

Unless Localyn expressly states otherwise in a specific feature:

You are responsible for the accuracy of your registration information and for activity that occurs through your account.

Do not share credentials, sell or transfer accounts, or impersonate another person or business. Notify Localyn through available support channels if you believe your account was used without authorization.

Localyn does not promise perfect identity verification. Any verification indicators, when offered later, are limited signals and do not guarantee honesty, safety, or transaction completion. Identity verification is not currently offered.

Localyn may suspend or terminate accounts for policy violations, fraud risk, safety concerns, duplicate or fraudulent accounts, or other legitimate operational reasons described in these Terms.

Members are responsible for their listings and Online Yard Sale posts. Descriptions and photographs are supplied by members. Content must be truthful and accurate. Sellers must have the legal right to list the item, disclose known material defects, use accurate photos, and choose appropriate categories.

Members may also post Looking to Buy buyer requests describing items they want to purchase locally; those requests must be truthful and follow the same marketplace safety and prohibited-items rules as listings.

Buyers should inspect items before purchase whenever possible. Localyn cannot guarantee condition, authenticity, ownership, legality, availability, or pricing accuracy of any listing.

Duplicate, misleading, bait-and-switch, fraudulent, or unavailable listings are prohibited. Listing availability is not guaranteed.

Localyn may edit category placement, reduce distribution, remove, archive, or reject listings that violate policies, and may preserve relevant records for safety, fraud prevention, dispute response, and legal compliance. Localyn cannot review every listing before publication and is not obligated to monitor all listings.

Members are responsible for complying with applicable laws related to their listings and transactions. Shipping or delivery, if any, is arranged between members — Localyn does not provide shipping.

You must follow the Prohibited Items Policy. Firearm listings are strictly prohibited on Localyn.

Lawful outdoor categories such as archery equipment, crossbows where legally permitted, hunting clothing and accessories, and outdoor sporting goods remain allowed when otherwise lawful and accurately described.

Localyn may prohibit additional categories based on law, safety, platform risk, or operational moderation capacity.

Buyers and sellers are responsible for inspecting items, agreeing on price and terms, and completing any required taxes, permits, title transfer, registration, licensing, shipping, or other legal steps.

Localyn does not process or hold payments and does not guarantee payment or delivery. Prefer payment methods with appropriate protections when relevant, and do not send advance payment without verifying the transaction.

Marking a listing sold or recording a completed transaction in Localyn reflects Localyn workflow records only and is not proof of legal title transfer or legal completion of a sale.

For Online Yard Sales, a seller may record a completed transaction with a specific buyer in a conversation. Completing one buyer transaction does not end the Online Yard Sale or affect other buyers or items. Ending an Online Yard Sale removes the overall sale from ordinary discovery and is separate from completing an individual buyer transaction.

Meet safely using public locations when practical. Follow the Marketplace Safety guidance. Disputes normally remain between the buyer and seller. Reporting a dispute to Localyn does not make Localyn responsible for reimbursement or for resolving the dispute.

Localyn provides a platform for organizers to share community events. Unless an event is explicitly identified as a Localyn-sponsored event, Localyn does not organize, supervise, inspect, certify, guarantee, or endorse individual events merely because they appear on the platform.

Event organizers are responsible for event accuracy, permission, permits, safety, accessibility, insurance where required, participant eligibility (including age where applicable), rules, prizes, cancellations, venue requirements, and legal compliance.

Attendance is at each participant’s own discretion. Organizers must promptly update material changes or cancellations. Localyn may remove unsafe, deceptive, unlawful, canceled, or inappropriate events.

Tournament results, Interested indicators, and reminders are informational tools. Localyn does not certify results, administer prizes, or guarantee that an event will occur. See Event Guidelines for more detail.

Messages are for legitimate Localyn interactions about listings, Looking to Buy requests, events, and related community use. Harassment, threats, spam, scams, illegal solicitation, and unwanted commercial messaging are prohibited.

Do not send sensitive financial or identity information unnecessarily.

Localyn may use automated systems and authorized human review for spam, fraud, safety, abuse, and policy enforcement only to the extent such tools are implemented. Localyn does not state that it routinely reads all private messages or monitors them 24/7.

Messages may be accessed, preserved, disclosed, or reviewed in connection with reports, safety investigations, legal process, system security, or consent. Deleting a conversation in the interface may not immediately erase all retained records.

Localyn does not promise end-to-end encryption unless that feature is expressly implemented and described.

Reviews and ratings represent the experiences and opinions of members who were eligible to leave reviews under Localyn’s review system. They should be considered together with other available information.

Eligible Online Yard Sale reviews use the same marketplace review and Trust Summary system as other eligible marketplace reviews. After an eligible completed Online Yard Sale transaction, the buyer and seller may each leave one review for that buyer conversation.

The Trust Summary (including Overall Rating, Seller Rating, Buyer Rating, Trust Score where shown, participation history, and badges) is informational. Signals may be incomplete or inaccurate. Trust Score may reflect available review averages and related Localyn records rather than a multi-factor score.

The Trust Summary is not a certification, warranty, guarantee, endorsement, or prediction of future behavior. Founder and Founding Member badges identify roles or recognition programs and do not guarantee trustworthiness.

Identity verification is not currently offered. If offered later, verification would not guarantee future conduct, ownership of goods, transaction safety, or legal compliance.

Localyn may moderate or remove reviews that violate Community Standards, the Review Policy, or applicable law, including manipulated, fraudulent, or retaliatory reviews.

You retain ownership of content you create and post to Localyn.

By posting, you grant Localyn LLC a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, display, format, resize, distribute within the service, promote your public listing or event, create technical derivatives such as thumbnails, moderate and enforce policies, and operate and improve Localyn.

This license does not transfer ownership of your content to Localyn. You represent that you have the rights needed to upload the content and that it does not violate others’ rights or these Terms.

Respect others’ copyrights and intellectual property. Follow the Copyright Policy for complaints.

Localyn has not completed U.S. Copyright Office designated-agent registration. Until registration is complete and matching public agent information is published, send copyright complaints to legal@golocalyn.com. Do not treat Localyn as having an active DMCA safe-harbor designation solely because this policy exists.

The Localyn name, Localyn logo, GoLocalyn.com branding, the tagline “Building the digital hometown.”, site design, original written content, software, graphics, and other company-owned materials are trademarks or branding of Localyn LLC and its licensors, or are otherwise protected as applicable.

These Terms do not claim that every mark is federally registered. Do not use Localyn branding in a confusing or unauthorized way.

Localyn may investigate reports; request information; restrict content visibility; remove content; warn members; limit features; suspend or terminate accounts; prevent re-registration; preserve evidence; cooperate with lawful authorities; and take emergency safety measures.

Localyn is not obligated to monitor every listing, message, event, or member, and does not promise a particular investigation outcome, response time, or 24/7 monitoring.

Members may report listings, Looking to Buy requests, and members through available reporting tools, or contact Localyn through Contact Us / hello@golocalyn.com. Reports should be truthful. False or abusive reports are prohibited.

Localyn may not disclose confidential enforcement details. Appeal availability does not prevent emergency restrictions. Localyn retains reasonable discretion in enforcing community standards.

Localyn is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.

Localyn relies on infrastructure and service providers to operate the service, including hosting, authentication/database/storage, email delivery, and abuse-prevention (CAPTCHA) tools as described in the Privacy Policy.

Third-party services may have separate terms and privacy policies. Localyn does not control every third-party practice.

Features may change, be interrupted, modified, suspended, or discontinued. Listings, events, messages, or accounts may occasionally be unavailable. Localyn does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Planned features marked for a future update are not contractual promises and may change before release.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Localyn is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

This section does not excuse deceptive conduct or waive rights that cannot legally be waived in your jurisdiction.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Localyn LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for member conduct; member-to-member transactions; listings or events; payments; property damage; personal injury; loss of data; unauthorized account access; service interruption; third-party services; or indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations. In those places, Localyn’s liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. These Terms do not state a specific dollar liability cap.

You are responsible for your content, listings, events, Online Yard Sales, transactions, and use of Localyn. You agree to cooperate with Localyn’s reasonable requests related to reports, safety investigations, and legal process.

These Terms do not assert broader indemnification, fee-shifting, or related provisions beyond what is stated above.

If you have a dispute with Localyn LLC, contact legal@golocalyn.com or write to Localyn LLC, 614 North Centre St, Unit #1012, Cumberland, MD 21502, United States and describe the issue so we can try to resolve it informally.

These Terms do not impose arbitration agreements, class-action waivers, jury-trial waivers, exclusive venue clauses, or shortened claim filing deadlines. If Localyn adopts any such dispute procedure, it will be presented in an updated version of these Terms.

Nothing in this section limits rights that cannot legally be waived.

You may stop using Localyn at any time and may request account deletion through account settings when signed in.

Localyn may suspend or terminate access for policy violations, safety, fraud, legal requirements, or operational reasons, including discontinuing Localyn or any part of it.

Some content and records may remain after termination where reasonably necessary for active disputes, safety and fraud records, backups, or legal retention, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Localyn may update these Terms. Material changes will be indicated by updating the effective and last-updated dates and, when appropriate, by in-product notice.

For material changes that require renewed affirmative acceptance, Localyn may ask you to agree again before continuing certain features.

These Terms, together with incorporated policies, form the entire agreement between you and Localyn LLC regarding the service, unless a separate written agreement expressly applies.

If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. Localyn may assign these Terms in connection with a reorganization, merger, or sale of assets; you may not assign them without Localyn’s consent.

Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, employment, or agency relationship. Except where expressly stated, there are no third-party beneficiaries.
